Warning- Full of bubbly gamer collector excitement. Its contagious..XD
So, I've been at this for most of my life. (Second Warning, If you are in love with the newer FFs or Star Foxs. Don't read on..serious.)
Im an 8-bit lover, totally into the Super Nintendo Games...I live on these. Been playing since seven. My first game was Super Mario, Second was Donkey Kong, third is the Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, then Star Fox. YES... I love the old games! Star Fox was awesome for its time, the newer versions suck! (im biased by the way) The only one I give kudos to is the Assault..I still need to check the Command, and Starfox 64 is just a remake of the original Star Fox. (which is still epic) I own Star Fox Adventures...to be honest, its ok...but it makes me sick...(then again, so do most high graphic/3d games. Why I play 2d. )
Anyways, I have been hunting down my Final Fantasys, one by one. I own Final Fantasy one aka Mystic Quest. I rate this game a four. Why? Because of its awesome bosses, the deduction of a star of being short of a five star game is because story line lacks. Its rushed and kinda random at times, and characters are lacking. But its the first one of the Final Fantasy Saga, So im not entirely complaining. For the main character, I just love how he shrugs all the time. Tristam an asshole..Uses up everything and hogs it all...hardly cures u. Kaeli, She's useless...dies too easily, gets poisoned and paralyzed easily...etc. The only ones I found useful is Reuben and Pheobe. Reuben is from Fireburg where u fight the Jinn from the mine, Medusa in the volcano and the Hydra in Lava Dome. He has the Morning Star (which is an axe attack) and he is always using items but he does heal you(unlike Tristam) he has no magic till you pass the fireburg section( around Captian Mac's ship he gains White randomly). Now Phoebe is the real gem, she has a wide variety of magic attacks and her bow and arrows are the highest attack. She joins you in Aquarium to fight the Squidite in the Wintry Cave, the Snow Crab in the Falls Basin and the Ice Golem of the Pyramid. Later, she joins you for the Doom Castle and the Fight against the Dark King. Epic Battle, a four stage boss with different attacks in each stage, each gradually worsening.
With that said, I own Mystic quest, Final Fantasy 2, Final Fantasy 3, Final Fantasy 4 is essentially 2(..weird US and Japan Mix up...), Final Fantasy Five, and Final Fantasy 6 (which is 3, also a weird mix up like FF4).
As far as FF7 and beyond goes, they can go to hell...I played a couple of them...they suck. I'm not one for a shit load of characters(pardon my french) and confusing back stories and plot (I have a hard enough time trying to understand DMC and Darkness 2. Im not even touching Halo with a 10 foot stick)
Back to my exciting news, I found out three years ago about a continuation of my personal favourite Final Fantasy 2.The characters are more developed, story line is beautiful and the adventure is long lasting (mystic quest can be completed within a day). It takes months to go through this one, or if you are an avid player like me, a few weeks. still, its great entertainment and amazing play. Its the best out of the series in my opinion and deserves a 5 star rating.
The continuation is called The After Years. Basically, a few years go by we still have the original cast but some more add ons. We have Cecil's son Ceadore (which is adorable) and Cecil's brother, who's no longer evil, Golbez. (My all time favourite bad guy). Along with that, there are additional quests and similar quests to the original Final Fantasy 2. Do I know everything about it, not quite. All I know is, I'm gonna get it soon so I can get my personal dose of Cecil Harvey and Kain Highwind. I love his hair ^//^. And then i'm steal Golbez away, mwhahaha!
Let's get back to business, I will post to you guys how I rate this game.
As for Final Fantasy 3, it also is rated 4 stars. Kefka, is an insane bad guy with a horrible 8-bit laugh. Shadow, is a ninja with commitment issues, seriously, he takes off in the middle of your travels...talk about cowardly. Stupid Ninja. You have a kid with a rabies problem, Gau (He's annoying, but his Rage gift is amazing to utilize when you learn Behemoth, Bahamut, and one of the dragon moves. not to mention ultima) Sabin, a karate master of some type with the Blitz technique, he is alright. I use the Genji Glove to equip him with two claws (similar to Yang in FF2/4). Locke is one of my most used, He essential is my Dragoon (equip him with dragoon boots and he gets the jump command like Kain in FF2/4) Celes is my healer most of the time (like Rosa in FF2/4) with the added ability of Runic (absorbs magic damage). Terra is obviously used, between her magic and her Atma Sword. Edgar, I use sparingly. his Tools command is alright if you have Chainsaw and Drill later, but Auto Crossbow sucks quite soon when you get to the higher enemies. I taught him magic non-the-less. The fact that we have a definate middle in the game (spoiler, the world ends) and we continue in the ruined world from there is awesome and fighting all the elemental dragons is quite a feat. Not to mention the random flying one that u may or may not bump into while on Setzer's ship. FYI, you lose everyone in the middle of the game, just to go around collecting them again...bugger.
Final Fantasy 5, i'm trying to work through...lots of new stuff to learn. For one, they have jobs (yay for employment. XD) and with that loads of abilities....totally new concept to wrap my head around. Ill keep you posted on my rating.
So thats all for today's Gamer Blurb Rating. Toodles. ^^
